Bucket list ‘pumpkin patch’? You might laugh but it was on mine and I think the wish got stronger once I spotted all of these amazing photos on Instagram last year mostly from bloggers living in the States. I simply felt I just have to do this as well.

I’ve already mentioned that the weather last weekend wasn’t the best, there wasn’t much you could actually do but a) going for a walk or b) a visit to the pumpkin patch seemed the best options so we decided for the latter. With the strong wind it felt a lot chillier than it actually was.

It was in July when we went to the Bellis Brothers to pick some raspberries (you find the post with a yummy gluten free cake here). Back then we discovered the growing pumpkins and decided to come back in autumn. Besides, the farm is very close to our home and we love Holt, it’s such a pretty little village. Not to mention the Bellis Brothers Farm Shop, it’s amazing. pumkin season bellis brothers holt

I can’t tell you how much fun it is to pick your own pumpkins let alone the fact that it’s quite cheap.

We paid 3 quid for the 2 pumpkins that we bought for our garden bench. It’s so perfect if you love decorating with pumpkins at this time of year or if you love stocking up with them for Halloween. Many parents came with their children, some of them still toddlers and everyone seemed so happy. It was fun to watch.

If we have the chance, we will do the same next year. I think pumpkins just make us all smile because with their bright orange they are just a happy colour, aren’t they? pumkin season bellis brothers holt

Hi Kirsten, what a joyful Autumn post. I love the colours, bursting with warmth. I really love Autumn and you have really celebrated it with these stunning photos. I love your outfit; great hat! xx

Thanks so much Ruth, I do love the colours too. And yes, we eat pumpkins, just last Sunday we enjoyed a wonderful pumpkin soup.xx

PS I hope you actually eat pumpkins as well. We eat a lot of pumpkin in New Zealand – particularly as a roast vegetable, and in soups.
