BEAUTIFUL BOUTIQUE BED & BREAKFAST AND COUNTRY HOUSE STAYS IN BRITAIN

Whenever we’re travelling, some of you lovely lot send messages to me asking about our accommodations or whether I have some tipps. I can’t stress enough how much we love travelling in the UK. There’s so much to see and there are tons of the most beautiful boutique stays. No big hotel chains but cosy and very private bed & breakfasts, cottages and country houses that are run with the utmost love by the owners. I do love to share all things travel and you can expect more throughout the year.

The Manor House Bed & Breakfast in the Peak District

The Peak District is pure heaven for people who love nature. Areas like Stanage Edge where parts of Pride & Prejudice with Keira Kneightley were filmed are incredibly breathtaking (find the post here); it’s hard to put into words, you have to see it for yourself. boutique accommodations britain

For our first time in the Peak District, we stayed at the beautiful The Manor House. We booked the Super Double Ensuite (check out this post) which was amazing because it was literally like a small apartment. The B&B is right next to the cosy Pub Ye Olde Gate Inn which we found very convenient. Sarah who owns The Manor House is such a kind host and Brassington a small and cute village.

The Old Nursery House in the Peak District

Another tip if you’re looking for a lovely place to stay in the Peak District. For our next stay we chose The Old Nursery House. We opted for the Paris Room where we stayed for 2 nights and absolutely loved our hosts. They serve a yummy breakfast and we felt so at home there. Chatsworth House (post here) as well as Haddon Hall (post here) are a mere stone’s throw away. A great base and the area is simply beautiful. boutique accommodations britain

Harrowby End in the Cotswolds

The Cotswolds – the heart of England and I can never tire of its beauty. I would move there in a heartbeat. The Cotswolds are extremeley popular as it doesn’t even take 2 hours to get to London by train so you’ll find some of the rich people who decided to buy their weekend home there or who left London for good. Well, I can’t blame them but house prices in the Cotswolds are insane. If you’re looking for the most romantic villages, you will find them here. Well, as well as all the clichés. It’s heavenly. boutique accommodations britain

We rented the beautiful thatched roof cottage Harrowby End in Ebrington and spent lovely days with my wonderful parents there. It literally screams The Holiday I’m telling you! Just around the corner, you will find the gorgeous Ebrington Arms where we didn’t manage to go but I heard the most wonderful things so it’s really worth checking out. Plus it looks like a picture postcard. If you would like to see more, you should read my posts here, here and here.

Pinkney Court Bed & Breakfast in the Cotswolds

This is the place where a dream of mine became a reality: At least once in my life I wanted to feel like a real country lady and styled a beautiful floral maxi skirt with Hunter wellies (something I couldn’t live without around here) – one of the best mornings ever! It’s quite difficult to describe Pinkney Court as words don’t do it any justice. We felt so lucky too: We booked the French Room which isn’t exactly big but decorated with so much love and since we were the only guests during our visit (there are only 2 rooms that you can book), it felt like an apartment with the kitchen. The estate and the mansion are extraordinary and I didn’t want to leave (get some more impressions here). boutique accommodations britain

The Outbuildings in Anglesey

The Outbuildings in Anglesey is a more rustic B&B but no less charming. We especially loved having breakfast in the big kitchen where you sit around a huge wooden table together with all the guests and chat away. It’s quite special. And yes, you can stay in the pink shepherd’s hut too – you’ll be rewarded with the most incredible views into Snowdonia and you’re surrounded by cute sheep. We stayed at The Boys’ Room there – a nice and neat room in blue that has a perfect size. We also booked dinner on one of the nights and absolutely loved it. boutique accommodations britain

Angelesey in North Wales is breathtakingly beautiful – the coastline is amazing which is why we love coming here. It’s actually not too far from where we live and great for day trips too. If you’re ever in Angelesey, you should it make it to the island Ynys Llanddwyn which has a picture postcard lighthouse (see posts here and here).

Thirlestane Castle in Scotland

Spending your holiday in a castle? Yes, that’s possible! You can rent the beautiful Lauderdale Apartment in Thirlestane Castle which is in the Scottish Borders. It’s only 25 miles from Edinburgh and couldn’t be more perfect whether you like going to the city or stay in the countryside. The ride to Edinburgh is really quick if you fancy some hustle and bustle (check out this, this and this post for more). It was such a lovely and relaxing time there and not as expensive as you might think. All it takes is a bit of research but that’s what I’m here for.

The Beckford Arms in Wiltshire

Our first experience with a pub that has rooms and definitely not our last. The Beckford Arms is situated in Wiltshire’s Fonthill Gifford which is just beautiful. It’s a typical country pub just as you would imagine it. We loved its location and the fact that we could walk down for dinner. The food is amazing and there’s a barbecue in the summer months. If you’re ever in Somerset, make sure to visit The Talbot Inn for some food and/or overnight stay too as these 2 pubs belong together – it’s one of the nicest pubs ever.

Many of you are familiar with Gold Hill in Shaftesbury and are dying to visit. We did too and it’s so close from Fonthill Gifford (see here). We’ve already booked some of our accommodations in pubs for this year and I’m planning a video on this topic so stay tuned. In the meantime, you might want to check out this post again.

The Post House in Somerset

While we could still stay at The Post House in Chewton Mendip in pretty Somerset as B&B guests, you are now able to rent the whole house. We enjoyed every single second there. It’s a quick drive to Bath and if there’s one city I would love to live it’s Bath – it has the perfect size if you ask me, tons of charm and the most beautiful architecture. Historic Wells is very nearby and couldn’t be more Harry Potter, a wonderful place and Vicars’ Close is one of the prettiest little alleys I have ever seen (find posts here and here). boutique accommodations britain

Llangoed Hall Country House Hotel in South Wales

A small country house hotel located in the beautiful Wye Valley in the South of Wales. It’s utterly picturesque and romantic. Laura Ashley’s husband Bernard bought Llangoed Hall in 1987 because his wife fell in love the moment she saw the house which I really get (see more here). Breakfast here is a dream as is the whole area simply because you can change into your hiking clothes, step out of the hotel and start exploring. We would have loved to stay longer. It might be a hotel but there are many little retreats and it feels as if Laura Ashley is still there (here is a Laura Ashley post if you like).

Broadgate House Bed & Breakfast in the Lake District

Since we’ve been living in the UK, I can name you 3 places I would love to live: The Cotswolds, Bath or the Lake District! I know there’s still a lot to see but this is how I feel at this moment. And you can’t but fall in love with the Lake District. Those beautiful Herdwick sheep and the landscape – it’s out of this world. It’s not surprising that some of the most famous poets of the country went there to write. I get it.

Broadgate House is such a wonderful B&B with the most charming hostess. If you like (and we did!) you can sit with her in her gorgeous lounge that has a fireplace and enjoy a glass of wine or a nice cup of tea. It’s awfully nice. I loved all the little details in this house and felt like I was in a Jane Austen novel at times (see here).

Culloden Tower in Yorkshire

One of our highlights last year: Culloden Tower in North Yorkshire! It doesn’t get better that. Booked via the gorgeous Landmark Trust where you find the most amazing historic buidlings that are offered as self-catering accommodations. My first thought when we arrived was: Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your hair. Staying here feels as if you’re living in another era, a beautiful fairytale. It’s highly recommended! I fell in love with this tower and never struggled so much to go back to reality. So if you’re looking for something very special because there’s a birthday coming up or it’s your anniversary, THIS will be your place (find a post here).

Seapink Cottage in Cornwall

An unforgetable holiday with my parents in Cornwall. I’ve been dreaming for many years to travel around Cornwall with them and explore this beautiful part of the world together and was over the moon when it happened last September. We rented Seapink Cottage near Widemouth Bay – it’s beautifully and quietly located and is all about relaxation. The cottage is wonderfully equipped and you even find a picnic basket, it’s all there. And it’s great for exploring the whole area – Boscastle (post here), Tintagel or Post Isaac are very nearby and a must. It doesn’t get boring around here. boutique accommodations britain
