SUMMER DRINKS AT THE FONTHILL ESTATE

Is there anything better than going to the lake with a picnic blanket, some fruit and cold drinks to enjoy the nice weather in the shade? Our accommodation in idyllic South-Wiltshire (I’ll tell you more about it soon) was located on the edge of the Fonthill Estate which is a huge estate with a stunning park and a big lake. There’s a public street that you can reach through the gate which you see in the first photo. We saw that there was someone living in the cottage next to the gate and I got a little bit jealous. As soon as you drive or walk through the gate, you spot the beautiful lake, loads of sheep and horses that are bred here. I’m currently editing a vlog on YouTube soon because we actually filmed a lot more this time which was great fun. Since I’m having problems with my blog’s format when publishing videos there, I decided to just use them on YouTube so make sure you subscribe and you won’t miss anything. summer drinks at the fonthill estate

Fonthill is privately owned and you can only get to the actual estate with country house via another gate. Gladly there are some public spots and many use them to go for walks with their dogs. We were lucky to find a public spot for us too. It’s interesting to know that the Fonthill Estate has holiday lets as well or venues for weddings. You can even book fly fishing and simulated shoots through them. There’s so much to do and the location not only has the most beautiful villages nearby, it’s a great base for excursions and walks. We spent a couple of hours in the shade of the trees before heading out to dinner to the Pythouse Kitchen Garden which we highly recommend. summer drinks at the fonthill estate

Yes, a very basic picnic but still, it was super spontaneous and just nice. We had our very first and proper picnic(!) last year and I can highly recommended, do it.

We love to picnic when we are in the UK! It always seems to be so much nicer then doing that here in the Netherlands!

Awww haha, that’s probably because you’re on holiday mode when you’re in the UK. There are so many gorgeous spots in the Netherlands for a picnic, no?
