THE BEST OUTFIT FOR WINDY WEATHER

We had a lot of rain showers and cloudy weather during our holiday in Cornwall. Luckily the rain stopped most of the time once we were walking around somewhere. It was often chilly due to the wind and there came a point when I gave up on my hair style. As soon as I stepped out of the house, the styling was gone within seconds. No wonder I bought another beanie and a hat during this week and it certainly won’t happen again that I travel and take just one hat with me. It taught me a lesson.

If it’s very rainy and windy, it usually gets quite dark and dull outside. These conditions call for colourful clothes that will protect you against rain and wind but that also make you happy. outfit windy weather

Trust me it works. Wearing all grey wouldn’t certainly lift your mood. outfit windy weather

I’ve worn my red trench coat several times in Cornwall and I’ve had the red Hunter wellies for years now. This is the Tour model which I can highly recommend for travel because it’s much lighter and foldable compared to the other wellies. The perfect pair for a suitcase. outfit windy weather

The trousers are from Boden and last time I’ve worn it was here. They look so pretty if styled with red accessories. I also have this print (find the post here) which looks wonderful with a pair of colourful Hunters. You can still get the trousers in the sale.

We were in Boscastle that day which we fell in love with the first time we visited years ago. It’s a beautiful and little coastal village and the perfect base to explore the surrounding area. Tintagel and Port Isaac are just around the corner and amazing places. Sadly we couldn’t go up the cliffs this time from where you have the most breathtaking view. It was so windy that it was far too dangerous and we didn’t want to risk anything. We decided to stay in the village and enjoyed a cup of tea before we went back to our cottage.

Funnily enough, I think we were on holiday in Cornwall in the same week as you, although on the south coast rather the north. It’s great to see Cornwall getting some love, as I truly think it’s the most wonderful place in the world! I’ve never been to Boscastle, however, and it does look delightful.

Oh, and of course, I love your outfit as always. Red and blue is one of my favourite combinations too.

You were? I hope you had the most wonderful time Fran. Oh we love Cornwall so much. It’s funny, it’s very popular with Germans. There’s the British writer Rosamunde Pilcher and when they starting to turn her stories and books into films in Germany like 20 odd years ago, Cornwall became so so popular. We love both the South and the North. And thanks so much.x

That’s interesting to hear that Cornwall is popular with Germans! We know from the guest book at the cottage where we usually stay that it’s also regularly rented by a couple from Germany. They usually get to stay for three whole weeks though, lucky things, while we can only manage one week at a time!

And yes, we did indeed have a wonderful time! We visit most years – it feels like home to us, and we find it so relaxing and therapeutic. I’m glad that you had a good holiday there too. 🙂

It is! Oh dear, 3 weeks? I wish my husband would even be able to take 3 weeks off, I don’t even remember the last time that happened. Lucky devils. I can so relate that Cornwall feels like home to you, would love to have a cottage there.

How wonderful to see some images of beautiful Boscastle! Such a special place. For our Cornish holiday this year, we stayed near Falmouth, in a cottage attached to an old estate house that, it turned out, is used as a Rosamunde Pilcher filming location. And indeed, there was a German film crew there on one of the days during our stay! I really love your outfit here, such a great combination of colour and pattern.

We LOVE Boscastle too. We’ve been to South Cornwall on our first trip 20 years ago (it was our first visit to the UK!) and it was on the Lizard, absolutely breathtaking area. And you know what’s funny? The first thing we ran into was a German film crew shooting a Rosamunde Pilcher film just yards away from our holiday cottage! Germans are obsessed with Cornwall which is a good thing I think, it does a lot for the tourism here. Falmouth is such a pretty area.x

Ah, Boscastle! I was there some years ago. You really do look so cheery in that outfit, I bet you made anybody you came across that day smile. I’m all about the colour on a grey day, but yes, practicality comes first too when it’s cold and wet!

Thank you Jodie. No, no secret sadly. You can probably see that I always had to hold tight to my hat because it was so windy and then I had to take it off because I would have lost it otherwise (a bit of wind is fine but there were strong gales). And I must admit this one would be too expensive to lose :)x

Thanks so much. Cornwall is such a lovely place. The trench coat is one of the best pieces in my closet, the cardigan is navy actually as I thought black too be to harsh for the entire look.
