We do love Afternoon Tea especially when taken in the most beautiful setting. While on our little Scotland trip, we made a detour to Edinburgh to enjoy a gorgeous Afternoon Tea at the breathtaking Signet Library.

Do you like being surrounded by books or love the atmosphere of a library? Having Afternoon Tea there would be the icing of the cake you think? Then the Signet Library is screaming your name.

You will find the library in Paliament Square in Edinburgh’s Old Town. One of the busy high streets is just around the corner but as soon as you walk into Parliament Square, it gets a lot more quiet. A little oasis in the middle of the city if you will. I adore Georgian architecture (in fact a Georgian house would be my ultimate dream!) so this couldn’t have been any better. The Upper and Lower Libraries in the building were completed in 1822 and are owned and operated by the ‘Society of Writers to Her Majety’s Signet’. glamorous afternoon tea salon in edinburgh

It’s always so easy to preorder gluten free Afternoon Tea in Britain so this is such a relief to me. It’s usually so much food that we tend to leave with some of the treats we didn’t manage to eat. Should you have missed my Scotland vlog with more impressions, you can find it here. glamorous afternoon tea salon in edinburgh

The atmosphere in the Signet Library is just wonderful. The Afternoon Tea itself wasn’t my favourite though. 3 years ago we went to Balmoral’s Palm Court in Edinburgh which was amazing. It’s more pricey but being able to listen to live music on the harp is such a treat. Sketch in London is a pink dream and the gluten free version is yummy. Not to mention the Art Déco interior. Oh my. It’s not easy to make gluten free scones and so far I had the best ones at Wedgwood (find the post here). They were to die for.

I hope we will have the chance for many more Afternoon Teas not only because we love the tradition but also because I love sharing the places with you.

My outfit:

Kachel Jumpsuit (love this or this one too), Dune Shoes (so in love the Aquazzura ones as well)

I love libraries and I certainly love afternoon tea, so I would have been in heaven here! It looks such an interesting place to explore. Good that you can get a gluten-free option organised. Nice to see a photo of your lovely husband. I spent a very brief time in Edinburgh, but would like to go back one day and spend more time looking around. That is the trouble with being a tourist, (I was on the train on a Britrail Pass) you have a day or two, here and there). xx

Afternoon tea there would be totally your cup of tea then dear Ruth. The atmosphere is marvelous. Yes, my hubs sometimes makes an appearance on the blog. I know, a day or two somewhere just gives you a little impression but to get a real idea of a place, you simply need more time.x

What a glorious venue for afternoon tea – which is one of my favourite indulgences too – and the tea itself looks perfection too. It’s good to know that they will happily cater for a gluten-free diet, which I also need to follow. I will make a mental note, in case I’m ever in Edinburgh again!
