So did you all enjoy the Easter weekend with lots of chocolates? I indulged 2 weeks ago since we were so busy with moving over Easter that we didn’t even notice the holidays. I think we are quite well on track, drove so much stuff to the cottage, packed and cleaned and now wait for the final move on Thursday. On Saturday we will drive to Germany via France by ferry and although our schedule seems to be mental at the moment, I can’t wait to see my family again. gingham dress

The end of April is near which is usually the time when it gets warmer. This is hardly the case right now, it’s even snowing in some parts. My gingham dress that I was so lucky to find in the Laura Ashley sale feels so summery compared to this. Gingham couldn’t be more classic and there’s isn’t a single gingham piece I don’t love. I’m always happy when I spot it in my Instagram feed or in my favourite blogs. I think I will never forget Brigitte Bardot’s wedding dress which was gingham. It always reminds me of Nice, St. Tropez or Capri. Such a summery lightness. gingham dress

Okay, we took these photos at Penrhyn Castle in Wales which is hardly the same. We visited years ago and wallowed a bit in nostalgia. I was a 100% sure that we haven’t been to the garden back then until Joerg showed me some photos. How in the world I forgot about that escapes me. Actually Penrhyn Castle isn’t a castle in the common sense of the word even if it looks like one. It was built in medieval times but was tremendously expanded and transformed in the 19th century. You have to go inside too. It’s one of those country houses that get me excited and fascinate me. Just stepping into the entrance hall is a huge experience as it was inspired by the architecture of cathedrals. It does take your breath away. gingham dress

A gorgeous look! The gingham looks so fresh and loving the peachy/watermelon colour of the shoes and bag. Congrats on the move!

Thanks so much Gail. We can’t wait to move into the cottage even though it’s not ours but hopefully the next step is finding our own place.

You look lovely Kirsten. I recall my mother dressing me in gingham when I was about 7 years old. She bought some brown gingham (to match my brown eyes and brown hair) and made two dresses! At the time, I thought it was boring, but now I love gingham. I don’t have any gingham in my wardrobe at present though. Ruth

Thank you Ruth! This is such a lovely memory and it somehow reminds me of Cabbage & Roses, a lovely brand here in the UK that makes such pretty clothes and accessories.
