GETTING READY IN DERBYSHIRE

There’s nothing better than waking up in the morning, feeling at home because your surrounding is beautiful and getting ready. We haven’t really discovered the Peak District yet and only scratched the surface with 2 visits to Lyme Park (post here). From the huge park in Lyme you can see this soft and hilly landscape which wets your appetite for more. We wanted to go away for another weekend before our vacation in Germany. The Peak District isn’t that far from us and we could have easily driven home the same day. But staying overnight (2 nights are even better which we usually prefer) makes things easier and gives you more time to explore. Those of you who check my Instagram stories from time to time, might have seen our fantastic B&B in Brassington, The Manor House. We decided to book the big double room where you can stretch out. The room is huge and so is the bathroom. And what really comes in handy too is that the pub Ye Olde Gate Inn is right next door.

As per usual we got up very early on Sunday because we wanted to drive to Stanage Edge. Stanage Edge is in the Peak District National Park and absolutely incredible. I will tell you more about it very soon. We wanted to take some more photos before that and although we’re usually quite well organised, we went with the flow and made a stop in Ashford-in-the-Water because we liked the village so much when we drove through. Whenever I take a shower or a bath in the morning, I slip back in my PJ’s and then get ready. This is also the time to enjoy my first cup of Earl Grey. As the owner of the Manor House, Sarah, has a vintage interior shop in Baslow, our room was stuffed with interior magazines. I love browsing through these mags and usually keep a lot of older ones at home because you can always grab them and gather ideas as well. Although we woke up early that morning, we took our time over breakfast. It’s something we always enjoy at boutique hotels and beautiful B&B’s: Often you find yourselves at the dinner table with total strangers, start chatting as if it is the most natural thing in the world. In short, we really lost track of time with the 2 other guests and I’m sure Sarah must have thought we had taken over her dining room. We had so much fun. And I’ll be showing you the outfit you’re seeing in the photos here next week. Have a lovely weekend everyone.
