Do you remember my post about Blists Hill (in case you missed it, you find it here)? This was such a glorious day and the Victorian Town isn’t something only the little ones will love. On the contrary, grown ups will equally adore it. You find the outdoor museum in Ironbridge Gorge and when we visited back in June, we thought we would easily make it to the village as well. We didn’t though because we loved Blists Hill that much that we were running out of time. favourite places shropshire

2 months have passed and we planned another visit to Ironbridge and Benthall Hall which is very near. Ironbridge is on the river Severn and owes its name to the famous Iron Bridge. It was built in 1779 and is the world’s first first cast iron bridge. Reason enough to make a visit worthwhile but also because the village has some small and quirky shops. While wandering through the streets, we came across the café Grays of Shropshire and were surprised that we were the only customers. It was still a bit early I admit but most of the people went to other cafés that didn’t have an atmosphere as this one. We couldn’t have been happier with our choice because the café also had a little shop that sells vintage crockery. Marvellous. favourite places shropshire

If you plan a day trip to Shropshire we highly recommend the historic village Ironbridge where you stumble upon quirky shops and also get to see the world’s first cast iron bridge. Very nearby you find Benthall Hall, a Tudor house with a pretty garden. favourite places shropshire

For the second half of the day, we drove to nearby Benthall Hall. Like so many of these gorgeous manor houses, the location of this one is amazing and we really enjoyed the garden. It seems that the house gets often overlooked so it’s lovely and quiet. You are allowed to take photos in the lower floor and I really loved the living room. Such a bright and gorgeous room and one of the wooden cabinets had a little statue on it that was more than 400 years old! Can you believe it? Things like that always leave me speechless.

My outfit:

Zara Dress (fell immediately for this and this one as well), Zara Boots (love this pair and this higher version) too, Lulu Guiness Bag (old; this one is their latest model)

It looks as though you had a lovely day Kirsten. The manor looks beautiful. It was good to have a peek inside! How ornate. I am like you and get excited when I see things that are so old – in NZ we are comparatively young. Your outfit is very nice – great boots. Thank you for another enjoyable post. Ruth xx

We did Ruth, thanks so much. We loved the manor and it’s nice to snap a pic or two sometimes. It doesn’t always work so I’m happy it did this time.xx
