ENGLISH COUNTRY STYLE IN CHARLECOTE

In our bed & breakfast near Stratford-upon-Avon (post here), Joerg and I discussed right before going to bed if we really should visit Warwick Castle the next day. This was our initial plan. The weather forecast was gloomy and when I checked the website of Warwick Castle, I noticed that it was run by an entertainment company. Did that sound like our cup of tea? I became very sceptical. Alice and James also told us that Warwick Castle is a money-making machine, very touristy and busy. You should have seen it once though. Somehow we weren’t up for it especially because the weather was supposed to be very bad. I came across a photo of Charlecote Park, just about a 10 minute drive from our accommodation. It looked breathtakingly beautiful and as we always have our National Trust passes with us, we decided to go there very last minute. Which was exactly right. english country style

I instantly fell in love with this beautiful coutry manor house from the 16th century which is right by the river Avon. The gales were quite strong and I quickly gave up looking after my hair. We were beyond happy to be able to visit such a stunning place so a bit of wind and the odd rain shower couldn’t do us any harm. In the end, the weather wasn’t too bad. english country style

It wasn’t very busy that day, only when it started raining quite heavily many people went inside the house. Understandable because we did too. It’s quite a big estate and house and not many rooms are open to the public as parts of the house are still inhabited. It’s very worthwhile though. Can’t you just picture Mrs Patmore in the kitchen too? There’s a holiday apartment for up to 6 people in one of the towers, The Turret. I think it’s very nice for a family with children. english country style

Visiting a manor like this in the countryside, Barbour and Hunter are a must. There’s nothing better in changing weather conditions – English country style which I mixed up a little with this pretty gingham skirt. This is the look I feel most comfortable in and the skirt is so versatile. english country style

What I wore:

Barbour Jacket, Zara Top (old), Barbour Scarf (similar one here), ASOS Gingham Skirt, Hunter Tour Wellington Boots, Chloé Marcie Bag, Hunter Umbrella

Hi Kristen,
I’m so glad you enjoyed your trip to Warwick Castle, pity about the weather but your Hunter Tour Wellingtons look very comfortable.
I visited Warwick Castle during a break in Stratford on Avon some years ago and really enjoyed it.
