ON THE BEACH

Normally people like going to the beach when it’s warm outside. Well, whereas many parts in Germany are currently being covered with snow, we had 11 degrees Celsius last Saturday here in the UK. crosby beach liverpool

Although it felt a bit colder with all the fog. It’s easy to see that my umbrella didn’t help all the time. Despite the weather we decided to drive to Crosby Beach to check out Antony Gormley’s cast-iron figures. After all, there are 100 of these figures spreading out along 3km of the foreshore. Some of them stretch out almost 1km out to the sea. crosby beach liverpool

At first we were a bit disappointed because there actually was no view at all. We couldn’t see the water and from the ships we could only hear the horns. Then all of a sudden there was one of the statues appearing in the fog and from a distance you couldn’t really tell if it was a walker or one of the figures. It made it all very exciting that’s for sure. I think it was because of this weather that I realised how perfectly well chosen this place is for sculptures like that. And the name ‘Another Place’ is so on point. The Brits seem to love this place and it’s easy to see why. During the festive season they even dress the men in Santa costumes. After our walk we went to the Waterloo Café for some hot chocolate and to warm up. I bought my Hunter umbrella some weeks ago because I was looking for one that would match my blue wellies. Its size is so great as well. It also looks great with my hat that I showed you here for the first time. crosby beach liverpool

Thank you Jodie. Yes, I think it makes the outfit more interesting with the matching wellies and umbrella (and hat of course). I know, the statues looked even more like people in real life (especially from a distance).

Hi Kristen, I hope you had a good New Year.
Your visit to Crosby Beach with the Iron Statues looked enjoyable and you had the foresight to put your Wellingtons on, are they new I haven’t seen them before.

Hey Julia, Yes, we had a great start into 2017 and I hope you did as well? It was a great visit and such mild temperatures. I’ve had these wellies for almost 2 years, I don’t wear them as often as my other ones but I do love them.xx

Kathleen, That is so sweet of you, thanks so much. I think Joerg doesn’t always have an easy task to take my photos as I often struggle, ugh.xx

I’m a huge fan of Anthony’s work and have this on my bucket list so this was such a treat to see you feature the figures. You did so well matching all of your accessories as you did – that blue is really bright and gives a real zing to your shots. The fog makes your photoshoot so atmospheric too. What a lovely post, thank you!
