You don’t see me wearing retro very often, do you? When I saw this retro bird dress on Dressific last year, I couldn’t help but get it for me. It reminded me so much of the English country style especially in this colour and I guess that’s the reason I really wanted it. First time I wore it was on our visit to Chatsworth (here) and at Christmas in Germany. This time I styled it in a different way with booties, a brown leather belt and a cardigan.

Some days ago it was very windy around here with some longer periods of rain. Anything but great conditions to take photos. I came up with the idea to drive to Tatton Park and go to the conversatory there. I’ve never seen it terribly crowded. Sometimes a couple of people walk in but never stay for long and you’re all alone again. I really like this place and of course it’s warm. Definately a good tip when the weather is dreadful.

If I were to choose I would love nothing more than move to the area surrounding Manchester. Unfortunately it would be too long a drive for Joerg to get to work. I love Manchester and what keeps fascinating me is that you don’t even have to drive for ages out of the city to find yourself in the pretty countryside. Looking for pubs with rooms I stumbled upon the Roebuck Inn in Mobberley. The area is gorgeous, you live in the country, typical English countryside if you will and can go for beautiful walks. Manchester is just a 30 minute drive which is very handy.

I think many people aren’t aware that some pubs have the prettiest rooms. They are often so much better than hotels. The Roebuck Inn belongs to this category and can easily compete with any boutique hotel. We had a wonderful lunch and one of the managers said to me that if I was to visit during the week when it’s more quiet, he would love to show me around. Sounds very appealing to me and I hope I can make it happen some time soon.

Oh Kristen, thank you so much for this article, I’ve been to Tatton Park several times it covers a vast area but I’ve never been in the Conservatory but it is now on my “to do” list.
I’m so glad the “Old Roebuck” is open again, I thought that it had gone forever, so many Pubs have closed in the last ten years, although the “Bulls Head” across the road from the “Old Roebuck” is well worth a visit.
Best Regards,
Julie

Thanks so much Julia. I must admit that we haven’t seen all of Tatton Park yet either, we haven’t been to the maze just to give you an example. The conservatory sure is lovely. And we went for a little walk in Mobberley and spotted the Bulls Head and thought it looked great. Now that you’re saying it too, we will sure check it out. Where exactly do you live? And thanks so much.x

Hi Kirsten

First comment but I’ve been reading a while , I lived in Liverpool for many years and worked at Manchester Airport , I commuted no problem the distance is nt too far at all and can be quicker than commuting from the Wirral to the city centre . From the start of M62 to the airport or mobberley junction on m56 is only 35mins in moving traffic 🙂 don’t rule it out completely !!!

Hi Claire, So lovely to hear from you and thanks so much for the tip. The only problem though is that my hubs works in Wales so we’re looking into North Wales too but I would definately prefer Cheshire so something close to Chester would be great. But who knows what the future holds, will keep you posted.xx
