GOLDEN LIGHT IN SNOWDONIA

We were blessed with the most glorious weather this past Sunday! Blue skies and bright sunshine called for driving into Snowdonia. Snowdonia always reminds me a little bit of the Scottish Highlands. The landscape is breathtaking and once you’re in Snowdonia National Park, you just want to keep stopping to take photos. We encountered many hikers early in the morning who seemed to have made their way towards Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. But to our astonishment we even met more cyclists. I have a big admiration for those who can ride a bike at -2 degrees Celcius, driving up a pass and then go downhill without a protective face mask. I think the Brits are tougher than the Germans. I know I couldn’t do it because my face is too sensitive in icy wind. And there really was a very cold wind in the afternoon and bundling up on Snowdon summit vital.

I’m always very happy in the mountains and it’s here where I can relax the most. I enjoy the fresh air, the quiet and also the sheep. There’s almost nothing better than watching the sheep making their way through the mountains. I’m contemplating buying the book The Shepherd’s Life: A Tale of the Lake District to read over the holidays. I know that the Lake District isn’t Snowdonia but I’m obsessed with Herdwick sheep because they have the most friendly faces and are a very tough breed. You probably think I’m crazy but sheep have a calming effect on me. For today’s photos we stopped at Capel Curig, took in the peaceful morning and watched the sun casting the mountains in a golden light. I kept my outfit in a classic Britstyle. We’re going to the Peak District this coming weekend which has a stunning landscape as well. I chose a gorgeous B & B and we’re planning on visiting Chatsworth House.

I’ve just recently discovered your blog, and wanted to tell you how much I’m enjoying it. I do love your sense of style, which is very similar to my own. I also have a great fondness for sheep, and Herdwicks in particular, as you’re right – they do have very sweet faces!

Hi Frances, It’s so lovely to see you here on the blog and your words mean a lot, thanks so much. Yes, Herdwicks are my favourite sheep as well, I’ve been obsessed with sheep since I was a child and seeing them just makes me happy. Have a great week.xx

A great look with quality separates and lots of texture. I love Herdies too – I have a few photos of them over at Pinterest! We climbed Snowdon back in June last year. It was extremely cold and so foggy at the top we couldn’t see anything. But love Snowdonia and the Lake District. Spectacular views.

Thanks so much Gail. I know we had the same with Snowdon which is why you always have to be well prepared and pack enough clothes since it can get so cold up there. Oh yes, I LOVE the Lake District as well.x

You visit the most beautiful places! And you look so terrific too – never a tattered parka for you : > I do find sheep a most peaceful group too, and have fond memories for them while visiting Crete – making music with their bells. Thanks for linking, xo
